Bring on 2019!
So nice to have a break and have some real quality time with our friends and family! Its was the craziest year of our lives and we couldn't of done it without our incredible staff and loyal customers.
Comida catered over 100 private events and festivals, making it the most successful year to date. Our business has grown so much since Dany & I started back in 2013 with one food truck and a dream to bring Brazilian beans and rice to the streets of Perth. We hit the ground running and Perth got right behind our idea and we expanded in the first year to a second food truck and another brand Gary's Diner cheeseburgers. After slinging cheeseburgers and Beans and rice from the trucks, we got the crazy idea to build a sea container kitchen and run a pop up fringe festival serving tropical roti tacos under the brand Coconut Meat. Coco was a hit and set us up to start our next big project that we have recently launched down in South Fremantle. Madalenas bar, a dream project, designed and built by friends, family and amazing contractors. We were literally on the ground starting from scratch turning this run down place into a good vibe, coastal, little bar. To make the whole 6 months even crazier we had another little baby, Icaro Rees, halfway through the build, this was the deepest, most amazing and also the hardiest moment of our families lives when he almost died just after his birth. Words cant describe this pain and no one should go through something like this, but its a real experience and has made us appreciate all life. He is completely fine now and has become such a little dream baby, who's dearly loved by his little big sister Flora 🙂
I wanted to tell you all about our journey over the last five years, to give you an understanding of the great joy and hardship of being self employed, Perth is such an incredible city with so many people creating projects and business of pure passion and succeeding through hard work and help from the great community. We all know that none of this is possible without great staff, so we want to give a massive thanks to our staff, past and present who have helped us realise a dream. Your staff are everything to your business and you have to be a leader and listen to them if you want to grow and have them by your side through the good and hard times of the small business life. Thanks guys!
The next big adventure for us will be our bar Madalenas bar which is officially opening this Saturday, we are so scared and excited to bring this new vibe to you Perth.
